Coronavirus – Government bent on supplying vaccine
The government “uses all opportunity” to ensure that Hungary has sufficient supplies of the vaccine against coronavirus, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday, adding there was a “good chance” that the vaccine could be obtained from China, too.
Gergely Gulyás told his regular press conference that supplies via the European Union were slow, the weekly amounts received below 100,000 doses, adding that at that speed inoculating 3 million people would take about 30 weeks.
“The government wants to leave behind an era of restrictions sooner than that, but it requires securing supplies from elsewhere,” Gulyás said.
The government “has in fact agreed with (China’s) Sinopharm”, and the first shipment of up to 1 million doses of their vaccine “only depends on the speed of Hungary’s licensing”, the minister said.
Concerning the Covid-19 situation in Hungary, Gulyás said that the pandemic was being reined in, but warned that it could pick up again if restrictions were not observed.

Has the EMA approved this Chinese vaccine? No. By the respected UK MHRA (Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency? No. By the US FDA (Food & Drugs Administration)? No. Yet the Hungarian government seriously believes that the public will trust the tiny, under resourced local licensing authority?
